History
-
In September 2000, the Health
Resources and Services Administration awarded the Indiana
University School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine a
three-year Administrative Units in Primary Care grant to establish
a practice based research network.
-
INET, the Indiana Family Practice
Research Network, was created to find answers for patient care
questions and to address issues relevant to the practice of Family
Medicine in Indiana.
-
By the middle of the second year of
the grant, INET had about 150 physician members representing many
counties in Indiana and included doctors from all of the 12
residencies in the State.
-
In 2003, INET held its first formal
organizational meeting. Several family physicians were interested
in determining effectiveness of colonoscopy in primary care. Since
that time, a pilot study has been conducted to examine the type
and scope of data collected in the medical chart, and plans are
being developed to collaborate with other networks on a
prospective study.
